The Scheduler position requires the development, execution, and continuous improvement of scheduling strategies to meet customer demands while ensuring efficient use of resources, minimizing downtime, and reducing production delays. The Scheduler works closely with other departments such as production, procurement, and logistics to ensure smooth operations across all stages of the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities- Scheduling & Planning
: - Manage detailed production schedules to meet customer orders, production capacity, and inventory requirements.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure material, labor, and equipment resources are available to meet production targets.
- Prioritize production orders based on urgency, due dates, and resource availability to ensure timely delivery.
- Adjust schedules as needed to account for machine downtime, unanticipated delays, or changes in production priorities.
- Resource Allocation
: - Work with production, engineering, and procurement teams to allocate resources effectively for each phase of the manufacturing process.
- Monitor raw material availability and liaise with procurement to ensure timely ordering and receipt of materials.
- Ensure labor, machinery, and other resources are optimally used to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Production Monitoring & Reporting
: - Track and monitor production progress and adherence to schedules, proactively addressing any delays or disruptions.
- Provide regular reports on production status, schedule adherence, and any potential bottlenecks or issues to senior management.
- Work closely with production teams to ensure alignment with the established schedule and resolve any issues that arise during production.
- Identify and implement improvements to the scheduling process, workflows, and resource utilization to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Manufacturing, to optimize the production process.
- Coordination with Stakeholders
: - Communicate closely with various departments (production, engineering, procurement, sales, and customer service) to ensure alignment of scheduling with customer expectations and business priorities.
- Act as a key point of contact for stakeholders regarding schedule updates, changes, and any potential delays in delivery.
- Work with logistics to coordinate shipping schedules, ensuring that finished products are dispatched on time.
- Inventory Management
: - Collaborate with inventory management teams to maintain optimal inventory levels to support the production schedule.
- Ensure that raw materials, tools, and parts are available in a timely manner to avoid disruptions in the production schedule.
- Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution
: - Address issues that impact production schedules, including material shortages, machine breakdowns, or workforce limitations.
- Provide solutions for production delays or disruptions and ensure recovery plans are in place to minimize impact on customer delivery timelines.
- Customer Focus
: - Work closely with the customer service and sales teams to accommodate urgent customer orders or changes to delivery dates.
- Ensure that customer orders are fulfilled on time by managing the schedule and identifying potential issues early.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in scheduling or production planning, ideally in a metal manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and production scheduling tools.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with metal manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, welding, forging, casting, or sheet metal fabrication.

- Primarily office-based with regular visits to the production floor to monitor progress, resolve scheduling issues, and coordinate with teams.
- Occasional overtime may be required to meet production deadlines or during peak seasons.
Compensation is proportionate to the candidate’s applicable experience.
