Rhino Medical is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for an ongoing locum tenens assignment supporting a 10-bed outpatient emergency department in Independence, Missouri. This facility provides focused emergency care for low-acuity level 4 and 5 cases, with scheduled shifts from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM or 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM. The role involves performing basic emergency procedures, managing low-acuity patients, and collaborating with a support team, with no call or ICU rounding required.

Practice Environment
This emergency department functions as a freestanding ER with a focus on low-acuity cases, offering physicians and APPs a modern clinical setting supported by comprehensive staffing. The facility is affiliated with a regional Level 2 trauma center but does not serve trauma cases itself. Providers work alongside dedicated 24-hour physician coverage, nurses, and support staff to deliver efficient emergency care utilizing modern documentation tools.
Schedule & Coverage
- Shifts:
9:00 AM – 9:00 PM and 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM - On-site at ED, no call coverage involved
- All specific dates and times needed to be confirmed
Clinical Responsibilities
- Perform basic ER procedures: laceration repair, splinting, incision, and drainage
- Manage low-acuity ED patients (level 4 and 5 cases)
- Coordinate outpatient referrals and follow-up care
- Document thoroughly within EMR
Candidate Requirements
- Active Missouri medical license required
- DEA registration required
- Emergency Medicine certification:
Board Certified or Board Eligible (certification review case-by-case) - Case logs required and will be reviewed for privileges
- Experience with low-acuity emergency care preferred
