BJC Health Care seeks an Acute Medicine RN to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care on a fast-paced acute medicine unit. The RN will assess and monitor diverse adult patients, administer medications and therapies, manage complex conditions, and respond to changes in status using sound clinical judgment. Responsibilities include care planning, clinical documentation in the EMR, patient and family education, and collaboration with physicians, therapists, and support staff.

RNs participate in quality and safety initiatives, precepting, and continuous learning in a mission-driven, team-focused environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing assessment, monitoring, and evidence-based interventions for acute medicine patients
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately; monitor for responses and adverse effects
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized care plans and document thoroughly in the EMRCollaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, procedures, and discharge instructions
  • Support safe transitions of care, including discharge planning and coordination with community resources
  • Uphold infection prevention, patient safety, and quality standards; participate in unit-based improvement initiatives
  • Respond to patient condition changes and emergencies using clinical judgment and established protocols
  • Precept and mentor new staff or students as assigned; engage in ongoing professional development
