Job DescriptionCollaborate in design of and independently conduct laboratory, greenhouse, and field experiments on studying the virulence mechanism of Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus, including identification of effector targets, their cellular localization, and functional analysis of targets using genome editing technology. Conduct experiments to investigate the interaction between microorganisms and plant cells, focusing on citrus HLB and canker diseases through genome editing, protein‑protein interactions, transgenic over-expression, and biochemical analyses.
Develop and implement research protocols, troubleshoot experimental procedures, and supervise and coordinate full‑time Agricultural Assistants and graduate research assistants.
Analyze research datasets using appropriate statistical calculations, report results, and investigate mechanisms by which Las causes programmed cell death inside the phloem. Participate in preparing research reports, manuscripts, and presentations. Statistically analyze data, adopt computer software, and develop programs for analyses to summarize data and assist in preparing reports and publications. Attend research meetings, seminars, and conferences, present findings, collaborate with others, evaluate new lab technologies, and ensure laboratory resources.

$61,000 - $99,000 commensurate with education and experience
Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in biology or a related field and seven years of experience, or Master’s degree in biology or a related field with five years of experience, or Doctoral degree in biology or related field with two years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Plant Pathology, Microbiology, bacteriology, or a related field.
- Training in molecular plant‑microbe interactions, genome editing, protein‑protein interactions, and transgenic over-expression.
- Ability to conduct biological research, studies, or analyses using scientific methods and techniques.
- Knowledge of procedures, techniques, and equipment used in lab testing and analysis.
- Knowledge of terminology, principles, and techniques used in biological research, analysis, or testing.
- Ability to collect, record, and analyze scientific data relating to the biological sciences.
- Skill in using scientific lab, greenhouse, and field equipment.
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
