Field Service Technician (Non‑Exempt, hourly) – Department:
Field Service
The Field Service Technician supports fuel cell products installed in electric lift trucks, performing preventative maintenance, resolving breakdowns, and installing and servicing fuel cells at customer sites.
Core Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain and service fuel cells at customer sites.
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and fleet evaluations at a specific location.
- Carry out specialized service procedures, including field retrofits and software and hardware upgrades.
- Provide on‑call and emergency support to customers as required.
- Purchase tools, equipment, and parts for customer service and support.
- Handle maintenance of high‑pressure hydrogen storage, 480
VAC, flammability, cryogenic liquid, high‑pressure gas and fueling systems. - Communicate with customer personnel and hydrogen suppliers regarding aftermarket support.
- Provide feedback to regional service representatives on fuel cell performance and maintenance issues.
- Complete administrative duties and documentation, including incident reports, service logs, inventory maintenance, and site/system documentation.
- Enforce safety procedures in the field or on customer sites.
- Travel as required for business needs.
- Represent Plug Power professionally in all interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework.
- Three (3) or more years of direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
- Formal training and education may be considered in lieu of direct experience.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis unassisted.
- Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications is highly preferred.
- General mechanical aptitude required.
- Computer and software skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong interpersonal and motivational skills.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Creativity in solving technical problems.
- Ability to work independently.

- Technician must bring own standard set of tools; specific fuel cell tools will be provided by Plug Power.
Pay Rate: $24.50 – $28.50 hourly.
