As a Beacon Of Hope Hospice Volunteer, you will provide non‑medical support services according to agency policy and procedures including:

• Emotional support to patients and families
• Companionship
• Relief to family caregivers
• Assisting with household chores
• Report response of patient/family to hospice staff

After a light screening process and training, you will be assigned to a patient in the KC metropolitan area as appropriate.

The requirements to be a volunteer are:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Able to dedicate 1-3 hours per month
• Hold a current driver’s license
• Have current automobile insurance
• No felonies or abuse convictions
• Have a giving, compassionate heart

The onboarding process generally takes no more than 2 weeks. After that time, I, the Volunteer Coordinator with go with you to your first meeting with your person needing service. From there, you’ll be on your own, visiting with them as required and providing documentation of your visit back to me.
