POSITION SUMMARY
Spicer Group is actively seeking a creative, highly talented and self‑motivated Design Engineer to join our Ohio Transportation Highway & Roadway Group. A qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Civil Engineering specific to roadway and highway design, drainage design, pavement design, and the preparation of construction documents, including plans, specifications and construction estimates.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to the design and development of transportation infrastructure projects, including roadway and highway design, drainage design, pavement design, and related projects.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering design plans, specifications, supporting documents, permit applications for projects, and technical engineering calculations.
- Ensure compliance with ODOT and municipal standards.
- Perform assignments designed to develop professional knowledge and abilities requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks.
- Exercise judgment on details of work and in making preliminary or final selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
- Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results and follow processes through a series of related detailed steps.
- Prepare quantities, cost estimates, and other supporting documentation for projects.
- Utilize engineering software tools such as AutoCAD/Civil 3D and Micro Station/ORD to develop project designs and provide technical expertise for design modeling.
- May direct and review the work of other technicians and designers.
- May serve as an on‑site project representative on a construction site.
Physical presence is an essential function of this job.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
- EIT certification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of experience working in an engineering field
- Experience in transportation roadway infrastructure projects
- Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Micro Station/ORD, and Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
