Position SummaryRoadway Design Engineer – Project Manager (Cleveland, Ohio). Responsible for scope, fees, profitability, and management of individual and portfolio projects while serving as the firm’s contact with clients.
Responsibilities- Scope, fee, and profitability management for individual projects and a portfolio.
- Act as the primary client contact and project manager.
- Assist in new sales with clients for whom you are managing projects.
- Guide and coordinate internal transportation disciplines, sub‑consultants, and clients.
- Maintain a basic understanding of other transportation disciplines and their requirements for specific projects.
- Apply the Project Management Institute’s nine knowledge areas (integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, procurement) to each phase of managed projects.
- Assist the Deputy Operations Manager in maintaining PM best practices.
- On larger projects, you may or may not be involved directly in design.
- Report employee performance and future staffing needs to the Deputy Operations Manager.
- Participate in informal development of other employees.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- P.E. license required;
North Carolina P.E. preferred; candidate expected to obtain NC P.E. within first year.
- At least 10 years of consulting or engineering experience; 5 years of project management experience preferred.
- Experience on DOT design projects required; experience with multiple DOTs preferred.
- Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or similar CRM and project‑management software preferred.
- Experience with Micro Station, Open Roads, AutoCAD, and Civil‑3D software preferred.
Annual compensation $95,000–185,000 (based on experience, certifications, and regional market standards). Candidate also receives paid time off, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, flexibility, and mobility.
