Mechanical Engineer

The Mechanical Engineer reviews and develops complex electromechanical designs, leads technical aspects of highly customizable load bank projects, and supports the full product lifecycle from concept through fabrication, testing, and startup. This role collaborates closely with drafting, mechanical engineering, fabrication, field technicians, project management, and test teams to ensure that designs meet performance requirements, comply with codes and standards, and are accurately documented.

The position offers the opportunity to contribute to a growing engineering team working on a new, high-demand product line with projects that typically span from six months to two years.

Responsibilities
  • Review and evaluate job specifications, system one-line diagrams, elevation and plan view drawings, system block diagrams, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure technical accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with the Drafting team to produce customer-facing drawings and work with the Mechanical group to generate detailed mechanical drawings.
  • Act as the technical lead on assigned projects, maintaining ownership of engineering deliverables and being accountable for the quality and integrity of the work.
  • Work closely with the fabrication shop during manufacturing to resolve design-related issues and coordinate engineering revisions to drawings and design standards as needed.
  • Support field technicians during product startup by addressing technical questions, troubleshooting issues, and implementing design adjustments when required.
  • Provide constructive feedback to engineers based on practical experience and contribute to continuous improvement in design development processes.
  • Offer technical support in interpreting and applying relevant codes and standards, including NEC, ANSI, NFPA, and IEC, to ensure compliance in all designs.
  • Review submittal packages and collaborate with Project Management and Engineering leadership to clarify requirements and resolve any items that are not clearly defined.
  • Work with the Test department during product testing, assisting in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and determining effective resolutions to test issues.
  • Participate in new product development activities, focusing on mechanical design, 3D modeling, and integration of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Develop and maintain accurate BOMs for projects, ensuring that materials, components, and assemblies are correctly specified and documented.
  • Contribute to project management activities, including coordination of engineering tasks, communication with cross-functional teams, and support of project timelines.
  • Engage in OEM design activities, tailoring solutions to customer requirements and supporting customization for load bank applications.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and developing electromechanical equipment.
  • Experience in the development, design, and engineering of mechanical and electrical systems using both 2D and 3D CAD software, with Solid Works preferred.
  • Proficiency in mechanical design and machine design for complex equipment and systems.
  • Hands-on experience creating, managing, and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Background in OEM design activities, including customization of products to meet specific customer requirements.
  • Exposure to project management responsibilities within engineering projects.
  • Ability to interpret and apply industry codes and standards such as NEC, ANSI, NFPA, and IEC.
