Job Summary

The Certified Peer Specialist plays a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health and substance use challenges by leveraging their lived experiences to foster hope, recovery, and empowerment. This position involves working collaboratively with clients to help them navigate their recovery journey, providing guidance, support, and resources while promoting self-advocacy and independence.

Hours

HOURS : 11am- 7PM

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one support to clients, helping them identify personal goals and develop actionable plans for recovery.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage clients in their recovery process.
  • Facilitate group sessions focused on skill-building, coping strategies, and peer support.
  • Assist clients in accessing community resources, including addiction counseling and mental health services.
  • Offer mentorship and guidance based on personal experiences with recovery.
  • Engage in crisis intervention strategies to support clients during critical moments.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
  • Advocate for clients’ needs within the healthcare system and community settings.
Experience

Candidates should possess a strong background in behavioral health services. Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience in addiction counseling or mental health counseling.
  • Familiarity with crisis management systems and techniques.
  • Skills in mentoring individuals facing similar challenges.
  • Knowledge of social work principles as they relate to peer support.
  • Proficiency in crisis intervention strategies that promote safety and well-being.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping others achieve their recovery goals while drawing from their own experiences to inspire hope and resilience.
