Job SummaryThe Team Lead is a hands‑on working leader responsible for day‑to‑day activities and overseeing department staff. Team Lead is expected to be an expert and serve as a trainer for all tasks in their assigned functional area. This role requires a focus on safety, quality, and productivity while fostering a positive, team‑oriented workplace. The Team Lead will collaborate with Department Managers and Sr.
Operations Manager.
- Lead by example, oversee and complete day‑to‑day activities in assigned area.
- Ensure safe, accurate, quality, and efficient operations by department staff.
- Comfortable with identifying performance issues and addressing at the shop floor level, escalating to manager when necessary and documenting.
- Assign work to department staff using ERP/WMS reporting
- Complete department tasks as needed
- Identify and report roadblocks to Department Manager
- Identify and investigate inventory, quality and accuracy gaps.
- Coordinate workflow – report labor deficiencies/surplus to Department Manager
- Review and post KPIs – ensure department is meeting demand expectations; immediately report all labor, quality, productivity, or safety concerns to Department Manager.
- Complete shift end reports.
- Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe operating procedures.
- Train employees in safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 3+ years of experience in a warehouse, distribution center or production environment. Must be able to lead a team, recognize and reward or confront performance.
- Ability to demonstrate mastery of assigned area.
- Demonstrate high attention to detail.
- Able and willing to perform all assigned tasks within a department.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt within a fast paced ever changing environment.
- 2+ years of experience using a WMS, ERP or other operations management software.
- Must be able to work both independently and with groups.
- High school degree or equivalent.
Mobility – Ability to move throughout the production floor, including standing and walking for extended periods.
Lifting & Carrying – Occasionally lift or carry materials or equipment up to 25-30 lbs.
Bending & Reaching – Occasionally required to bend, stoop, or reach to inspect equipment or processes.
Dexterity – Basic hand‑eye coordination for handling reports, operating a computer, or adjusting minor equipment settings.
Visual & Auditory Requirements – Must have the ability to observe operations, read reports, and communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment.
