SUBSTITUTE ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST
FOR STUDENT TRANSPORTATION
TITLE: Substitute Administrative Specialist for Student Transportation
WORK SCHEDULE: As determined by the Transportation Supervisor or Designee (not to exceed 20 hours per week)
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Substitute Administrator

SCHEDULE:
Administrative Substitute Salary Schedule $30/Hr Rate
CIVIL SERVICE: Exempt
RESPONSIBLE TO: Transportation Supervisor/Business Operations Supervisor
MAJOR FUNCTION: Assist in the daily management of the Transportation Department and perform special projects related to the overall organization and supervision of the Transportation Department and its personnel in accordance with school district policies and state law and policies.
- Bus Driving Experience with On the Bus Instructor training preferred.
- Successful leadership experience; OBI experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of current laws pertaining to school bus operation/transportation (ORC, OAC, IDEA).
- Strong background or knowledge of computers.
- Knowledge and experience related to pupil transportation safety and best practices.
- Experience conducting investigations related to student or driver behavior and responding accordingly.
- Ability to interact with families with tact, diplomacy and professionalism.
- Ability to collaborate with Transportation Team Members and building leadership to proactively identify and implement improvement.
- Ability to properly plan and direct all transportation personnel.
- Ability to handle all types of inquiries and complaints tactfully and professionally.
- Understanding of special education compliance and regulations.
- Knowledge and ability to learn how to navigate and utilize our Student Information System and other software programs which provide information utilized by the Transportation Department.
- Ability to solicit and utilize feedback from various stakeholders as part of the improvement process.
- Appropriate written and verbal communication skills which translates to professional, clear and concise communication with a range of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the charter and non-public school systems we serve and ability to successfully collaborate with these institutions.
- Ability to grow the leadership skills and the capacity of those within the department.
