JOB SUMMARY
The job of Head Coach is done for the purpose/s of coordinating, organizing, promoting and operating an assigned sport that is designed to meet the needs and interests of the student athlete, school and community. Provide effective leadership in the school and the community. Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and ethics. Develop a healthy relationship with the student athlete, parents and community and be a positive role model.
This job reports to Athletic Director under the supervision of the Building Principal and will begin August 2026.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Compiles and maintains accurate individual and team performance records through HYTEK (Track).
- Assures the necessary set up and take down of equipment as well as maintaining a clean facility.
- Attends meetings scheduled by the Athletic Director.
- Complies with rules, regulations, and policies of the district (Safe Schools), athletic conference, and O.S.A.A., where applicable.
- Educates student athletes and assistant coaches in safety procedures including the need to report injuries immediately to coach/trainer.
- Fosters team building concepts.
- Implements appropriate procedures for handling injury situations; ensures the availability of a properly supplied first aid kit and emergency care cards at all times.
- Issues, collects, inventories, and stores equipment in a safe and secure location.
- Models positive and professional characteristics and conduct.
- Monitors athletes’ school attendance, grades, and personal conduct.
- Motivates individuals and the team, both on and off the playing field/court.
- Plans, organizes, and implements the teaching fundamentals, strategies, and rules of an assigned sport within the guidelines and principles of the district athletic and conference philosophy.
- Will work cooperatively with the high school programs to common language, strategy and philosophy in creating a district athletic program.
- Stays knowledgeable of changing rules, techniques, and philosophies relevant to the assigned sport.
- Supervises practices and contests including locker rooms and buses.
- Rides buses to and from away events.
- Directs activities of assistants.
- Recruits students for participation in sport.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of rules, regulations, and policies of the district, athletic conference, and O.S.A.A. where applicable.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work with disgruntled adults and students
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions.
- CPR/First Aid Certificate required.
- Valid Oregon driver license.
- ASEP Certified Not required at the middle level, is encouraged.
