JOB PURPOSE:

The Senior Editor will be primarily responsible for the overall publishing plan, delivery of
books on time for his/her pub list.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND

EXPERIENCE:

 A Master’s degree in English.
 At least 6-8 years experience in book publishing or allied fields.
 Ability to multi-task—budgeting, commissioning, scheduling, editing, organizing
reviews, liaising with author, reviewers and in-house teams, content development,
etc.
 Open to travelling for supporting the sales and marketing teams.
 Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
 Good interpersonal, time and team management skills.
 Ability to keep to production schedule.
 Ability to liaise with all departments.
 Ability to manage a team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 To help in the planning and execution of the publishing programme in keeping with
the market trends.

 To maintain cordial and good working relations with various authors, reviewers, in house
teams and freelancers.
 To drive the commissioning process and liaise with the author(s) and editor(s) in
response to feedback from reviewers and also in response to studying the
competition for improving the quality of each manuscript with a distinct competitive
advantage over other publishers’ books
To draw up schedules for every manuscript being handled in the list and to work within the stipulated time frames.
 To coordinate and monitor work of the commissioning and development editors
based on schedules and budgets in consultation with the Director.
