Job Description  Job Purpose  Establish a fully developed Research & Development Centre targeting to Applied research for Chlor-Alkali products to bring in improvement /value addition to existing Products /Processes and develop a range of products, applications and product variants to suit requirements for Industrial/ water treatment/ Plastic and allied sector aligned to business objective.
Build strong technical competence in resolving customer problems, testing, analysis for Chlor-Alkali products with support for required certification of products.
Key Result Areas
KRA  Supporting Actions      KRA1  Establishment Research centre & execution of research:
Identification and execution of long term projects & goals for R&D Centre  
1.Identify new segments and markets that require new products and work in collaboration with marketing to develop new products and applications
2.Estabilishment of Plasticizer Centre
3.Chart out the mandate for the Application Development Center
4.Prepare and pursue Annual P&B for R & D Centre and seek necessary budget approvals
5.Preparation of monthly MIS dashboards and deck presentation in reviews. (Meeting with BH, SBU Head & CMO)
6.Selection of skilled technical resources at R&D Centre    KRA2  New Product & Application development:
Develop applications/ new product development and formulations  
1.Understand and analyze the existing market trends, in-house competencies and propose development.
2.Ensure field testing of products to map them to the range of applications.
3.Work closely with Supply chain in optimizing and standardizing raw materials and testing procedures    KRA3  Recognition, accreditation, collaboration & certification:
Identify and collaborate with various bodies for recognitions, accreditations as well collaborate with institutes for research projects and product Certification  
1.Coordinate with Government agencies to complete the requisites and file necessary applications.
2.Identify and collaborate with recognized institutes/ organization to collaborate on the research projects.
3.Identification of required certification and ensuring requirement for existing ceritficates for all the products for DCA
4.Supporting the Units for annual audits and ensuring closure of NCs    KRA4  Product Improvement:
Ensure product consistency and improvement by pilot trials.
Monitor, audit and control all testing procedures and set benchmark for product standards.  
1.Extend support to the manufacturing team for improvement in existing products and processes.
2.Set up pilot tests, quality plans, procedures, documentations and report
3.Assist marketing in developing product data sheets, brochures, and other supporting documents    KRA5  Process Improvement:
Ensure process reliability by pilot trials.
Monitor, audit and control all testing procedures and set benchmark for process standards.  
1.Extend support to the manufacturing team for improvement in existing processes.
2.Set up pilot tests, quality plans, procedures, documentations and report    KRA6  People development & management:
Managing and motivating team and ensure team has relevant skill set and abilities to perform.  
1.Have clear goals & review mechanism for all the team members.
2.Formulate training plans for the Team.
3.Provide regular guidance, motivation & clear directions to team members.
KRA7  Technical support to customers & sales team:
Responsible for building expertise and capabilities and support customers and internal team on technical front.  
1.Build knowledge pool at Center by evaluating raw material, products and applications.
2.Regular trainings on NPD/ Application/ trends for internal team and dealers / customers
3.Closely work with customers to identify issues and accordingly work out solutions
4.Organize pilot and plant scale trails at customer site
5.Management of customer complaints, Inmrovement and communication to management    KRA8  Communication & IPR:
Publishing/ presenting research work in national/ Intrernational Journal/ Conferences and patenting the IPR/ novelty work  
1.Attend seminars and exhibitions to make presentations research findings.
2.Ensure publication and patenting of research findings    KRA9  Safety & policies:
Ensuring Safety practices and implementation of policies  
1.Ensuring safety practices in the laboratory at all levels including metrological conditions
2.Ensure implementation of all the HR processes and policies
