Job Description for      Formulation & Packaging Development Scientist

Formulation Development   for Almora Botanica products, including renovation of existing products. Almora Botanica products are COSMOS-certified Natural/Organic, vegan- and CFI-compliant. Current focus is Skin Care, Body Care and Hormonal Care. Future directions would include Hair care, SPA and Mother & Baby Care. Focus will be on New product development. The candidate will also be scouting for new active ingredients, evaluate them based on their  in-vitro  and  in-vivo  performance criteria.

The person will be carrying out stability studies and also basic product characterisation using a rheometer and digital microscope and other instrumental methods outside the laboratory.

Packaging   solution scouting with international vendors. Evaluate the packaging component for COSMOS-compliance by obtaining technical drawings and material component details from vendors and submitting them to Soil Association, UK for COSMOS-compliance validity. Evaluate packaging compatibility using an internally-developed protocol. Follow up with the contract manufacturer in the USA and France for formal COMPATIBILITY test.

Responsibilities

The candidate will be   developing formulations   following several steps: (i) scout for new active ingredients, evaluate them based on their   in-vitro   and   in-vivo   performance criteria. (ii) Prepare lab scale prototypes (iii) Perform quick stability tests in addition to 3-6 months stability tests; (iv) Basic product characterisation using a rheometer and digital microscope and other instrumental methods outside the laboratory.

Claim support:  Develop and use instrumental methods to support performance claims for new products under consideration.

Develop and Document process conditions  for new products. Interface with the overseas manufacturing partners using regular communication tools:
Vido meetings, emails, phone calls etc..

Interface and maintain contact with domestic and overseas ingredient suppliers  to ensure smooth delivery of ingredients to R&D location in Bangalore.

Write  Research reports  and generate data for patent filing.

Prepare  prototypes  for consumer evaluation, stability measurements, claim support data generation.

Qualifications:

B.S/BTech/Bsc or MS/MTech/MSc in any relevant disciplines:
Chemical Engineering/Technology, Polymer/Materials Science, Packaging Technology, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Mathematics.

Conversant    with Colloid and Interfacial Science, Surfactant Phase Behaviour, Oils and Fats Technology, Polymer Materials Science/Technology.

Fully conversant  with IT tools, including gen AI (e.g., ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini).
