The Religion Teacher fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by planning, guiding, and evaluating the learning process of the students in the Catholic school for whom the teacher is responsible within the framework of the school’s philosophy, organization, and curriculum. The Teacher provides the appropriate learning atmosphere and activities designed to maximize student competencies and skills for intellectual, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual growth toward a successful future.
The teacher has decision‑making responsibilities within essential job functions, in keeping with school policies. The position is hired and evaluated by the principal.
The Social Studies Teacher is expected to be dedicated, organized, enthusiastic and high‑energy professionals who are mission driven. Teachers should provide engaging coursework and be able to cater to diverse student needs. Successful candidates will have creativity and willingness to teach a variety of topics in the area of social studies. The middle school social studies teacher should have superb classroom management skills and a firm understanding of how to engage students.
A teacher should have the passion and energy to be able to inspire passion and energy from their students. A successful teacher can incorporate technology and different avenues of learning to keep the material fresh and interesting.
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Plans for instruction with logically sequenced objectives, based on adopted curriculum.
- Provides appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning
- Communicates with parents regarding academic and behavioral
- Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
- Conferences with parents upon request and responds to messages in a timely manner
- Demonstrates a willingness to respond to individual learning needs
- Perform teaching duties as assigned by the principal, including remote instruction
Minimum Qualifications
- State of Florida Teaching Certification in Religion/Theology
- Bachelor’s degree in Theology
- Knowledge of Google Classroom
- Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and principal.
- Perform teaching duties as assigned by the principal, including but not limited to providing remote instruction for students.
- Maintain accurate student attendance and academic records.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and secure learning environment.
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters.
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree is required.
- State of Florida teaching certificate
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 to 3 years teaching experience.
- Experience teaching through remote learning platforms.
- Knowledge of Google Classroom
