Job Overview
Boardman Clark seeks an experienced Legal Assistant to join our litigation team. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for carrying out administrative services and providing support to attorneys. The Legal Assistant will have a definite attention to detail, a strong work ethic, exceptional problem-solving skills and comfort working in a fast-paced and dynamic workplace.
Practice Areas:Litigation
Duties/ Responsibilities- Enter timekeepers’ time entry and expense reimbursement requests.
- Assist with docketing and tracking legal documents, deadlines, and court filings ensuring timely and accurate case management.
- Schedule and calendar appointments/ meetings and make travel arrangements, as needed.
- Proofread documents and emails for spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Maintain and organize client files and case documents.
- Transcribe dictated recordings into legal documents such as correspondence, motions, and pleadings
- Schedule and coordinate client appointments.
- Maintain accurate client information in files process and throughout their work with the attorney.
- Monitor email, mail, and voicemail. When requested, monitor timekeeper’s correspondence and arrange for responses.
- Communicate with clients to provide updates and gather necessary information.
- Serve as back-up to other legal assistants throughout the Firm.
- Perform other tasks as assigned, including sharing in additional administrative duties.
- Previous experience as a legal assistant with a focus in litigation is strongly preferred.
- Strong skills in word processing and computer use; proficiency in MS Office Products (Word, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
- High attention to detail and sensitivity to confidential materials.
- Ability to work independently and anticipate needed tasks to complete projects.
- Able and willing to learn new electronic programs.
- Excellent grammar, proofreading and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma required.
- Must be able to sit and/ or stand at a desk and work at a computer for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
