We are working with a long established, family‑owned civil contractor with a strong reputation across the Midwest for delivering heavy highway, site development, utility, and commercial construction work. The company operates as a self‑performing general contractor, which gives them strong control over schedule, cost, and field quality, and they are well regarded for their safety culture and long‑term client relationships.
Position SummaryOur client is looking to add an experienced Project Manager to help lead civil construction projects from pre‑construction through closeout. This is a good fit for someone with a strong background in heavy highway, underground utilities or site civil work who is comfortable managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and field coordination across active projects.
Key Responsibilities- Manage projects from bid handoff through final completion
- Oversee budgets, schedules, cost tracking, and overall project performance
- Work closely with field leadership, owners, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Review plans, specifications, and contracts to ensure full understanding of scope
- Support estimating, change management, and project forecasting as needed
- Coordinate project documentation, reporting, and client communication throughout the job
- Help maintain strong safety and quality performance across all phases of construction
- Contribute to smooth project delivery in environments that may include roadway, drainage, utility, site development, and related civil scopes
- 5+ years of experience in heavy civil, highway, or site development project management
- Strong understanding of grading, drainage, paving, utility, or related infrastructure work
- Comfortable managing multiple moving parts across both office and field operations
- Able to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Experience working with DOT, municipal, or commercial clients is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed
