Quanta Power Solutions is seeking an experienced Area Manager - CCGT Power Generation to oversee all construction activities, subcontractor performance, and field execution within an assigned power block on a utility-scale Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) project. The Area Manager serves as the primary field leader responsible for the safe, efficient, and quality execution of all subcontracted work associated with gas turbine, steam turbine, HRSG, Balance of Plant (BOP), and related power generation systems while ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
This position plays a critical role in coordinating multiple subcontractors, resolving field issues, driving productivity, and supporting the successful construction, mechanical completion, turnover, and startup of a CCGT facility.
What You'll Do- Lead all field construction activities within an assigned power block or designated area of a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) project.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors performing civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation & controls (I&C), insulation, and specialty work.
- Oversee installation and construction activities related to gas turbines, steam turbines, Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs), condensers, cooling systems, BOP equipment, and associated plant infrastructure.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with contract requirements, project specifications, quality standards, and site safety policies.
- Monitor daily construction progress and productivity to ensure achievement of critical path milestones and system turnover requirements.
- Conduct daily coordination meetings and communicate priorities, work plans, constraints, and safety expectations.
- Identify and resolve field execution issues, construction conflicts, and resource constraints to minimize schedule impacts.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, project controls, procurement, quality, commissioning, and startup teams.
- Verify subcontractor manpower, equipment, materials, and work readiness to support construction and commissioning schedules.
- Track and report progress, productivity metrics, risks, corrective actions, and forecasted completion dates.
- Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements, company standards, and client expectations.
- Support quality inspections, system turnovers, punch list resolution, hydrostatic testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
- Review subcontractor work plans and ensure activities are executed according to approved procedures, specifications, and project execution plans.
- Participate in client meetings and provide updates regarding assigned area performance, construction status, and turnover readiness.
- Assist in evaluating change orders, field directives, subcontractor claims, and schedule recovery plans.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 15+ years of construction experience with at least 10 years in a supervisory or area management role.
- Extensive experience on Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT), simple-cycle, fossil fuel, utility-scale power generation, or large EPC energy projects.
- Strong knowledge of turbine installation, HRSG construction, mechanical systems, piping systems, electrical systems, instrumentation & controls, structural steel, and civil construction practices.
- Experience supporting mechanical completion, turnover, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, schedules, P&IDs, and contracts.
- Strong leadership, planning, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse crews and subcontractor organizations on large utility-scale power projects.
- Strong understanding of CCGT construction sequencing, system completions, and turnover requirements.
- Strong focus on safety, quality, and execution excellence.
- Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced construction environment with aggressive schedule milestones.
- Effective conflict resolution and decision-making capabilities.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accountability.
- Ability to work in active construction environments and outdoor conditions.
- Frequent walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and navigating uneven terrain.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all site safety requirements.
