Eastern Southern Indiana / Louisville Market Position Summary

The Area Manager is responsible for overseeing Ragle's heavy civil construction operations within the assigned region. This person will manage multiple projects and project teams, with approximately $30 million in annual project volume.

The Area Manager will work closely with the Vice President, General Superintendent, Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents to keep projects moving in the right direction. The role is responsible for project performance, staffing and resources, safety, schedules, costs, and client relationships.

This position will primarily focus on the eastern portion of Southern Indiana and the Louisville market, while also supporting work throughout Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois as needed. As the company continues to grow, there may be future expansion of the area of responsibility into the Bedford, Indiana area and surrounding market.

Area Managers are expected to work together and share people, equipment, and resources when business needs require it. This position will also work with the Major Projects team on larger or more complex jobs.

• Oversee multiple heavy civil construction projects within the assigned area.
• Provide direction and support to Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents.
• Monitor project schedules, staffing, equipment, production, and overall job progress.
• Make sure projects are being completed according to plans, specifications, contracts, and company expectations.
• Help resolve jobsite issues and remove obstacles that could affect production or project performance.
• Coordinate people, equipment, and other resources between projects when needed.
• Maintain responsibility for the financial performance of approximately $30 million in annual project volume.
• Review job costs, budgets, forecasts, production, and profitability on a regular basis.
• Identify potential cost overruns or problem areas early and work with the project team to address them.
• Work with estimating and preconstruction on upcoming opportunities, project planning, and bid strategy.

• Build and maintain relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project partners.
• Serve as a point of contact for significant project or client issues.
• Work to maintain strong relationships that lead to repeat business and future opportunities.

• Support and reinforce Ragle's safety expectations across all assigned projects.
• Work with project teams to address safety concerns and ensure compliance with company, OSHA, DOT, and project requirements.
• Participate in incident reviews and corrective action planning when necessary.

• Lead and develop Project Managers, Project Engineers, and field leadership.
• Provide regular feedback, coaching, and support to team members.
• Help identify employees who are ready for additional responsibility and assist with their development.
• Provide input to the Vice President for employee performance reviews and development plans.
• Hold project teams accountable for their responsibilities and commitments.

• Support Ragle's growth in the assigned market.
• Help identify opportunities for new work, new markets, and expanded capabilities.
• Assist with planning for future office, yard, staffing, and equipment needs as the area grows.
• Support potential expansion into the Bedford, Indiana area and surrounding market as business opportunities develop.

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
• 15+ years of heavy civil construction experience.
