Job Description
Teach face-to-face beginning to advanced sewing clothing construction classes and the use of sewing machines to adult learners with various levels of experience. Communicate information and instructions with clarity and patience. Select projects appropriate to the student’s skill level.
Duties include developing lesson plans, organizing the lab, and keeping machines in good working order. Teach all aspects of clothing constructions and select patterns appropriate for all students. Be flexible to the needs of the students.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience in all aspects of sewing and clothing constructions;
- Two years’ teaching experience in teaching sewing in a high school, college or professional environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics or Fiber Arts.
- Knowledge of Bernina Sewing Machines.
- Ability to clean and service sewing machines.
Note:
Official sealed transcripts from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education are required if selected for hire.
The salary range for this position is $22.00 per contact hour.
This is an adjunct position with a variable schedule, expected to work 1-2 days a week, 5-10 hours per week.
