Willow Creek Middle School is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Technology Education Teacher to deliver engaging, hands‑on instruction to students in grades 6-8. This position focuses on engineering design, technology applications, architectural concepts, and problem‑solving through project‑based learning. Students will develop foundational through advanced technical skills using design software, 3D modeling and printing, construction tools, and lab equipment. The ideal candidate fosters creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and safe lab practices while integrating real‑world applications into instruction.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards‑aligned technology and engineering instruction for grades 6‑8.
- Teach courses that include:
- Grade 6: Foundations of measurement, design, and problem‑solving through engineering and construction projects; introduction to 3D modeling and printing.
- Grade 7: Technology, engineering, and architectural design through creative problem‑solving and iterative design projects.
- Grade 8: Advanced engineering concepts using professional design software, precise 3D modeling, and functional construction projects using lab tools and equipment.
- Use the engineering design process (plan, design, build, test, evaluate, improve) as a core instructional framework.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs.
- Integrate STEM concepts, technical literacy, and real‑world applications.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and well‑managed technology lab environment.
- Teach and enforce proper safety procedures for tools, machines, and equipment.
- Manage inventory, materials, and supplies for projects and labs.
- Coordinate maintenance and safe operation of lab tools, 3D printers, and design technology.
- Assess student learning through performance tasks, design challenges, and project‑based assessments.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth.
- Promote collaboration, creativity, and responsible use of tools and technology.
- Encourage student problem‑solving, innovation, and perseverance.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary STEM connections.
- Participate in professional learning communities and school improvement efforts.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and instructional practices in technology and engineering education.
- Support school initiatives and student engagement activities.
- Valid state teaching license appropriate for middle school technology education, engineering/technology, industrial technology, STEM education, or related field.
