Willow Creek Middle School is seeking a qualified and student-centered English as a New Language (ENL) Teacher to serve multilingual learners in grades 6-8 for the school year. The ENL teacher provides targeted English language development instruction, supports students' access to grade-level content, and partners with classroom teachers to ensure academic success. This educator fosters inclusive, culturally responsive classrooms and builds strong relationships with students and families.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide direct English language development instruction to identified multilingual learners in grades 6-8 using push-in and pull-out service models.
- Plan and deliver standards-aligned lessons that develop English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
- Collaborate with content‑area teachers to support language learners in core academic classes.
- Adapt instructional materials and assessments to support varying levels of English proficiency.
- Use sheltered instruction and scaffolding strategies to increase access to grade‑level curriculum.
- Monitor student progress in language development and academic achievement.
- Administer required English language proficiency assessments and maintain accurate documentation.
- Develop and implement required language learning plans and accommodations.
- Use student data to inform instruction and intervention decisions.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and available supports.
- Participate in student support meetings, case conferences, and problem‑solving teams.
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal requirements related to multilingual learners.
- Promote culturally responsive practices and an inclusive learning environment.
- Participate in professional development and collaborative team structures.
- Knowledge of second language acquisition and ENL instructional best practices.
- Ability to differentiate instruction based on language proficiency levels.
- Strong collaboration and co‑teaching skills.
- Ability to analyze and use student data to guide instruction.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to culturally responsive teaching and equity.
- Strong organizational and record‑keeping skills.
- Valid Indiana teaching license required.
- ENL / ESL / TESOL endorsement or certification required (or ability to obtain).
