The Department of English and Program in Gender, Sexuality, & Women’s Studies at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, seeks applications for a two-year, non-tenure track instructional position in American literature and gender studies. Appointment will begin August 10, 2024.
We seek an individual with expertise in 19th-century American literature (preferably before 1865) and feminist/queer theory, but exceptional applicants from other areas of American literature, intersectionality, and gender, sexuality, race, and ethnicity studies will be considered.
The successful applicant will be expected to be an effective teacher and will have a 3-3 teaching load divided between English and Gender, Sexuality, & Women’s Studies.
Successful applicants must possess the skills to teach compelling courses in gender, sexuality, and women’s studies and American literature, and to contribute to the core curriculums of both the Department of English and the Program in Gender, Sexuality, & Woman’s studies by offering foundational and introductory courses in both areas.
