Substitute Teacher

St. Philip’s seeks responsible and energetic Substitute teachers. This position is responsible for supporting all the faculty and staff in carrying out the St. Philip’s Episcopal School mission and curriculum. This position will provide classroom coverage as assigned when any teacher is absent. A substitute teacher must be confident in teaching a wide range of developmental age groups from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5.

The Chief of Staff will assign coverage.

This position is responsible for supporting all the faculty and staff in carrying out the St. Philip’s Episcopal School mission and curriculum. This position will provide classroom coverage as assigned when any teacher is absent. A substitute teacher must be confident in teaching a wide range of developmental age groups from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5.

• Follow the teacher’s lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning and that encourages students to participate
• Assign classwork and homework as necessary, according to lesson plans
• Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment
• Supervise students out of class, such as in the hallways and during recess and lunch
• Responsible for the safety and schedule of children during your assigned classroom

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Previous elementary school teaching experience and independent school experience preferred
• Strong command of the English language
• Excellent organizational skills
• Flexible, friendly, and good at establishing quick rapport with students
• Authorization to work in the United States, background check, and fingerprinting are required for employment.
