The Opportunity
Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity to join our Transformers business as a Field Service Engineer. You’ll contribute to the execution of the service strategy and service growth by focusing on delivering timely, high‑quality, cost‑effective service offerings, solutions, and engineering projects for customers.
Execute service work in accordance with Hitachi Energy standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines. You’ll be delivering quality customer service to satisfy our prestigious customers. Using your initiative to identify new service opportunities for Hitachi Energy.
How You’ll Make An Impact- You’ll be playing a key role within a team of knowledgeable and experienced engineers/technicians, undertaking and coordinating service activities on site, while keeping a close eye on health, safety, quality standards, schedules, and progress reporting to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Responsible for transformer service activities, including installation and commissioning, carrying out refurbishments, device replacements, routine maintenance, inspections, and identifying problems to assist with providing analysis for recommendations.
- Coordinate all delivered parts, materials, and components for each project and optimise the use of your resources to meet delivery and performance targets as effectively as possible.
- Lead jobs from start to finish under the direction of the project manager, to meet clients’ requirements.
- Maintain project site documentation and checklists, prepare reports, and help resolve any issues on site. You’ll provide feedback to assist with identifying and recommending effective new solutions to help meet business and/or customer needs.
- Apply all safety rules and follow safe practices, as well as keep environmental responsibilities in mind. You’ll also assess and highlight hazards and implement actions to ensure the safety of both people and equipment.
- Electrical Engineering‑related HNC, apprenticeship scheme or suitable industry experience.
- Experience with in the transformers or the power sector (installation/service/maintenance) and/or a broad knowledge of power engineering plant and equipment, i.e. transformers.
- Proven experience with mechanical installations, switch gear, cabling/wiring installation, oil handling/processing/sampling, device function checks and power equipment testing instruments, Omicron/Megger etc.
- Experience in leading a team/management of subcontractors.
- Able to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Suitable qualifications such as IPAF, PASMA, CCNSG, though training will be provided.
- Full driving licence.
- Able to work well using your own initiative; you’re also a team player who’ll collaborate and communicate well to achieve successful outcomes.
- You’re flexible in your attitude to working hours as the role will require working all over the UK, sometimes at short notice.
- You have excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- You have a systematic approach, a positive mindset and are keen to learn and develop.
