Intellectual Property Manager (f/m/d)

We are looking for a driven and analytical individual with a passion for technology and innovation. In this role, you will evaluate new ideas, analyze competitive patent landscapes, and coordinate patent activities with internal and external partners to strengthen and protect our innovation capabilities.
Your responsibilities- Execute IP-based technology landscape exercises in different industry domains and present the outcome to the relevant project team or business unit/venture unit team
- Perform new idea novelty searches and evaluations and present/discuss the results with the inventor(s) of the idea(s)
- Get acquainted with the Datwyler patent application and prosecution process and gradually take on a coordinating role in such processes, among others by fulfilling the role of contact person to the company's external patent attorney office
- Support the engineering/sales workforce and the legal counsellor in IP-related contract negotiations (development agreements, license agreements, tech‑transfer agreements, confidential disclosure agreements, etc.)
- Organize, execute and discuss competition patent analyses with specific business units
- Organize and execute IP checks of intended publications
- Perform analyses of the company’s patent portfolio and synthesize findings into meaningful insights to inform strategic, technical, and business decisions.
- Master's degree in engineering (mechanical, chemical, or electrical) or science (physics or chemistry) with 2 to 5 years’ experience in an industrial intellectual property environment
- Patent search and analysis capabilities to create technology landscapes and perform novelty (patentability) evaluations
- Experience in or aptitude for supporting contract negotiations is a plus (good negotiation skills)
- Enthusiasm for creating awareness about the importance of intellectual property within the organization (training and communication skills)
- Passion for technology and innovation
- Driven, analytical, and communicative personality
- Strong collaborative skills, with the ability to achieve results through both formal and informal channels
- Fluency in English (written and oral at C2 level); proficiency in German is an advantage
While patent attorney degrees are accepted, this position is not intended to serve as a patent attorney. Patent drafting and prosecution will continue to be managed externally through our collaboration with outside patent law firms.
