JOB DESCRIPTIONAs part of the development of our activities in the canton of Vaud, we are looking for a CAD & Component Engineer (M/F).
Reporting to a technical manager, your main responsibilities will include:
Responsibilities CAD Engineering- Manage PCB design environments, CAD tools, libraries, and license infrastructure.
- Generate complete manufacturing documentation packages (Gerbers, ODB++, fabrication drawings, assembly files).
- Create and maintain PCB components, symbols, footprints, and part numbers.
- Perform PCB layout modifications using Mentor Graphics and/or Cadence tools.
- Support PCB integrity and design verification activities.
- Collaborate closely with hardware engineers to understand placement, routing constraints, and design intent.
- Ensure CAD tools and libraries remain compliant, qualified, and available for engineering teams.
- Act as the main interface with external PCB layout subcontractors.
- Define and communicate design rules and routing constraints.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and project requirements.
- Coordinate routing activities with hardware development teams.
- Manage component lifecycle and obsolescence monitoring using dedicated tools such as Silicon Expert.
- Generate lifecycle, risk, and obsolescence reports for engineering teams.
- Identify and propose alternative components in case of obsolescence or supply chain risks.
- Perform Form-Fit-Function (FFF) analyses and support qualification activities.
- Support engineering teams in selecting sustainable and long-term component solutions.
You hold a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and have significant experience in electronic hardware development environments.
Requirements- Minimum 5 years of industrial experience.
- Strong experience with Mentor Graphics and/or Cadence environments.
- Experience managing PCB manufacturing documentation.
- Good understanding of electronic hardware development processes.
- Experience with component lifecycle and obsolescence management.
- Familiarity with Silicon Expert or similar tools.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary and international teams.
- Fluent English is mandatory.
