Your position

As Head of Mechatronics & Intelligent Handling, you will lead a key skill pool within RHI Magnesita Switzerland’s reshaped organization and play a central role in the ongoing transformation. Your team provides core competencies in mechanical design, mechatronic system development, and intelligent handling solutions for Flow Control products.

You combine technical leadership, people development, and transformation ownership, ensuring capabilities in mechanical engineering, CAD-based product development, PLM-based data management, prototyping, and industrialization are available and continuously developed.

Your team plays a central role in preparing the product portfolio for automation, digital transformation, and system‑level integration. • Planning, prioritizing and coordinating work packages to ensure transparency on capacity, priorities and deliverables
  • Leading, developing and empowering your team to achieve high performance and continuous growth
  • Owning technical standards, system architecture, CAD/PLM environments and engineering methods within your scope
  • Driving the development of mechatronic systems and intelligent handling solutions with focus on automation readiness, usability, safety and digital integration
  • Driving standardization, modularization and platform development for scalable product solutions
  • Ensuring solutions meet requirements for quality, safety, documentation, manufacturability, reproducibility and cost competitiveness
  • Collaborating with adjacent skill pools, Product Management, Ecosystem Management, Supply Chain, Operations and Go‑to‑Market teams
  • Overseeing product lifecycle activities from development through prototype validation to series readiness
Your profile
  • Degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, automation, robotics, systems engineering or a comparable field
  • Proven leadership experience, ideally in technical engineering, product development or industrial project environment
  • Relevant professional experience in an industrial environment, preferably in plant engineering, heavy industry, automation or handling systems
  • Strong experience with CAD systems, ideally Creo, and a solid understanding of PLM as the single source of truth for product and design data
  • Good understanding of mechanical interfaces, kinematics, motion systems and system integration in demanding industrial environments
  • Experience in translating product, customer and safety requirements into robust, maintainable and scalable technical solutions
  • Structured and collaborative working style with clear commitment to transformation and standardization; up to 25% travel required
Nice to have

Further education in engineering, leadership or project management; experience with PLM, stage‑gate and product governance; knowledge of CE, safety and quality standards; supplier and OEM collaboration; familiarity with modular architectures and design‑to‑cost; experience in prototyping, testing and series production
