This position is for the role of a Senior Mechanical Engineering Technologist on the Midwest Regulated & Renewable Energy (RRE) – Engineering Team in the Midwest.  This role will support resolution of technical issues and perform engineering design for a diverse mix of generation including coal, natural gas, hydro, and solar facilities.  This role will provide engineering support, focusing on power plant systems and equipment at the generating stations within the region.  

This is the fourth level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification and considered the career level for the job hierarchy. Senior Engineering Technologist provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems, and leadership skills to manage work in a specific area of expertise, with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently with increased latitude for unreviewed work.
* Provides subject matter technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise.
* Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities.
* Independently reviews and prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches.
* Conducts engineering and related studies.
* Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance.
* Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.
* Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
* Coaches and mentors other Engineering Technologists and Engineers.
* Facilitate MER Meetings to review risk items and develop scope and budget recommendations for future inspections.
* Collaborate with COSO and Station/Plant Engineers to initiate project requests in Power Plan long range planning
* Support Risk Grid items with Station/Plant Engineer and Technical Manager for entry to the Station Risk Grid.
* Provide technical oversight and support station operations, maintenance, and Implementation Managers for emergent technical requests, outages, and projects
* Document inspection findings and provide Station/Plant Engineer and/or COSO prioritized repair recommendations.

* Basic Qualifications:

*** Either 4+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 6+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 8+ years equivalent experience with a High school diploma/GED.
