Position OverviewWe are seeking a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to join a growing surveying and engineering organization in Indiana. This individual will provide technical leadership for a variety of land surveying projects, oversee field and office operations, and ensure deliverables meet client expectations, regulatory requirements, and company quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience managing survey projects, mentoring staff, and working closely with public and private sector clients.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, route, construction, easement, and utility surveys.
- Serve as Surveyor of Record and review survey documents for accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare and certify plats, legal descriptions, easement exhibits, and survey reports.
- Coordinate project schedules, budgets, resources, and deliverables.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to survey crews, CAD technicians, and junior survey staff.
- Review field data, calculations, and final survey drawings to ensure quality control standards are met.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, planning, and environmental teams on multidisciplinary projects.
- Communicate directly with clients, contractors, utility providers, and government agencies throughout project life cycles.
- Support business development efforts through proposal preparation, client relationship management, and project presentations.
- Ensure compliance with Indiana surveying regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Indiana, or ability to obtain Indiana licensure through reciprocity.
- Bachelor's degree or Associate degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive land surveying experience.
- Strong knowledge of boundary law, survey principles, and Indiana surveying regulations.
- Experience managing multiple projects and coordinating survey staff.
- Proficiency with survey software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, Micro Station, Trimble Business Center, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with GPS/GNSS, robotic total stations, laser scanning, UAV mapping, and modern surveying technologies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship skills.
- Transportation, municipal, utility, land development, and infrastructure projects.
- INDOT-related surveying projects and right-of-way services.
- ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys.

Expected Salary Range: $95,000 - $145,000+ annually, commensurate with experience, licensure, and project management responsibilities.
