Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Technician VI (TIG). This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex technical projects, providing expert support and leadership. Key Responsibilities- Independently plan and accomplish complex technical projects or studies; serve as a technical expert in specialized engineering areas related to electronics, RF, microwave systems, or environmental factors affecting electronic systems.
- Use judgment and creativity to resolve design, operational, test, and troubleshooting problems where standard methods may not fully apply.
- Review work for compliance with project objectives and provide advice on unusual technical problems, operational issues, or policy matters.
- May supervise, train, or provide direction to lower-level technicians.
- Prepare or support designs, specifications, test setups, experiments, and procedures for complex equipment, systems, components, and instrumentation.
- Plan approaches to solve design and test problems; recommend improved design or test techniques; coordinate with engineers, contract personnel, and system users to resolve issues and ensure system compatibility.
- Design and coordinate test setups and experiments to prove/disprove design feasibility, improve equipment performance, and support development of special test equipment or pilot models.
- Test, troubleshoot, repair, install, and support RF systems, electronic countermeasure systems, cables, modules, assemblies, circuit card assemblies, and related test equipment.
- Diagnose system problems and work with engineers to identify root cause and corrective actions at the system, CCA, component, analog, digital, RF, power circuitry, and interface levels.
- Provide technical support during test events; serve as a subject matter expert on test equipment and material.
- Attend planning meetings, IPTs, scheduling sessions, test briefs, and related coordination meetings.
- Provide input and recommendations to improve efficiency, readiness, safety, and execution of test events.
- Serve as UAV pilot and/or tactical vehicle driver as required.
- Travel up to 50%; work in field environments and inclement weather; lift over 20 lbs. as required.
- 10 years of related professional experience in electronics technology, test, measurement, troubleshooting, or repair of Electronic Countermeasure systems.
- Military technical school or specialty experience associated with Electronic Countermeasures, RF, microwave, electronics, or related systems.
- Expert-level proficiency in common and complex technician-level tasks; strong understanding of production processes and interfacing processes.
- Minimum of 5 years as an engineering technician with electrical design support and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience using RF and general test equipment such as signal sources, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, and related instrumentation.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware at the system, CCA, component, analog, digital, RF, power, and interface levels.
- Ability to read and work from schematics, CCA layouts, test requirements, and written or oral technical direction.
- IPC solder certification and demonstrated ability to rework surface-mount components at the board level.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, support multiple tasks, and communicate effectively with engineers, test teams, and customers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Candidate must be able to obtain a favorable Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
- High School diploma, vocational degree, GED certificate, or equivalent technical training.
