Amentumis seeking aCAD Designer and Documentation Specialist to support the development of innovative operational test systems for a NAVAIR program. This position focuses primarily on creating and revising detailed CAD drawings and engineering designs, with secondary responsibilities for technical documentation development and revision control. The individual in this role will collaborate with project engineers, systems developers, and government stakeholders to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of high-quality design and documentation materials to meet program requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a
CAD Designer and Documentation Specialist
, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Create and update
detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings
for Test System components such as Interface Test Adapters (ITAs), test fixtures, cable assemblies, and Special Test Equipment (STE). - Develop and maintain
engineering drawings
,
wiring diagrams
, and
schematics
required for the integration and testing of Weapons Replaceable Assemblies (WRAs) and Shop Replaceable Assemblies (SRAs). - Design and create
assembly and fabrication drawings
, ensuring compliance with relevant military standards (e.g., MIL-STD-31000). - Incorporate
path loss compensation (PLC)and calibration requirements into engineered drawings, as needed, for OTPS and STE designs. - Create
3D models
of test fixtures and other components for fabrication and validation purposes, ensuring alignment with design specifications.
- Support technical documentation efforts by creating and updating
Technical Data Packages (TDPs), including Level III drawings, native CAD files, and engineering design documentation. - Prepare and maintain project-specific
revision control documents
, ensuring accurate tracking of updates to drawings, technical manuals, and software-related materials. - Generate or revise supporting documentation such as:
- Software Version Descriptions (SVD)
- Software Build Procedures (SBP)
- Calibration Measurement Requirements Summaries (CMRS)
- Test Executive Instructions (TEI)
- Work with Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) to ensure TDPs and deliverables meet
government documentation standards
and are free from proprietary markings. - Participate in
System Engineering Technical Review (SETR) meetings
, including Post Award Review (PAR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), and Test Readiness Review (TRR), providing technical drawing updates or input when required.
- Associate’s degree
in Drafting, CAD Design, Engineering Graphics, or a related technical field. - Three (3) or more years
of experience in creating engineering drawings or CAD models for technical and/or defense-related applications. - Proficiency with
2D and 3D CAD software
(e.g., Solid Edge, Solid Works, AutoCAD, or similar) to create professional technical drawings and models. - Demonstrated ability to create technical drawings and
modification packages that meet industry and military standards
, such as MIL-STD-31000. - Basic understanding of
engineering concepts
and collaboration with engineers to produce documentation for Interface Test Adapters (ITAs), hardware, and other components. - Familiarity with
revision control
processes, including updating and tracking Technical Data Packages (TDPs) for government ownership. - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure precise and accurate documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including
Word, Excel, and Power Point . - Excellent communication skills for collaborating with engineers, developers, and stakeholders.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a
Secret security clearance

- Experience supporting NAVAIR or Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) programs with military-focused design or documentation.
- Familiarity with operational test development for Weapons Replaceable Assemblies (WRAs) or Shop Replaceable Assemblies (SRAs), particularly for RF or digital testing environments.
- Demonstrated experience developing Level III TDPs, including native CAD files, cable assembly diagrams, and product design packages free of proprietary markings.
- Knowledge of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and impedance analyzers to support detailed testing documentation.
- Experience generating Calibration Measurement Requirements Summaries (CMRS) and performing Test Accuracy Ratio (TAR) and Source Accuracy Ratio (SAR) calculations.
- Strong understanding of documentation processes and tools, including Software Version Descriptions (SVD), Test Strategy Reports (TSR), and Technical Data Package (TDP) development.
- Proficiency in developing or modifying designs for Test Program Sets (TPSs) and Special Test Equipment (STE).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and ensure quality control in a fast-paced environment.
