Tax

Senior

As a Tax senior in Global Equity, you will be responsible for supporting tax advisory projects and reviewing equity-related transactions on a global scale. This role supports compliance with international, regional, and local tax laws while optimizing the tax efficiency of equity plans. The role requires a strong understanding of tax regulations, equity compensation structures, and cross-border tax implications. As a tax senior, you would be required to ensure accuracy of deliverables and supervise, develop and mentor your staff.

A tax senior is also required to help managers strengthen relationships with the client.

As part of the People Advisory Services equity team, you would work on global equity calculations and related advisory projects for expatriates or international employees from various clients. You will receive trainings from EY on the standard tools and processes before being assigned to the job. High quality, good tax‑technical knowledge, attention to detail, efficiency and good communication skills are the key success factors in this role.

Working in the Integrated Mobility team at EY offers fantastic opportunities to develop client relationships early on in your career and to be involved in the day‑to‑day management of relationships and delivery of our services across a broad range of issues above and beyond tax compliance and advisory.

Your key responsibilities
  • Tax Compliance and Reporting:
    • Prepare and review equity calculations of different complexities. Get familiar with and have a strong understanding of different award types awarded by your clients. (i.e. RSUs/PSUs/SO/ISOs, Cash awards etc.) as well as a good understanding of tax rules in high volume countries.
    • Monitor changes in global tax legislation and assess their impact on your client’s equity compensation programs. Work closely with your manager/senior manager to discuss these updates with your client.
  • Employee Communication and Support:
    • Provide tax guidance and support to employees regarding the tax implications of their equity awards.
    • Address employee inquiries and resolve issues related to equity taxation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Data Management and Analysis:
    • Maintain accurate records of equity compensation awards, exercises, and tax‑related transactions.
    • Analyse data to identify trends, ensure compliance, and support decision‑making related to equity compensation and taxation.
    • Prepare and present reports on the tax impact of equity compensation programs to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Cross‑Functional

    Collaboration:
    • Work closely with client, global EY network, global payroll teams to ensure alignment on equity compensation and tax‑related matters.
    • Coordinate with country tax teams to address jurisdiction‑specific issues and ensure consistent application of tax strategies.
Regulatory and Risk Management
  • Stay informed about changes in tax regulations, equity compensation practices, and industry trends to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
  • Conduct regular reviews of equity compensation practices and tax compliance.
  • Managing staff and overall account management
  • Develop and supervise staff on tax technical, client service and engagement management skills. Provide timely feedback to the staff on their deliverables.
  • Ownership of client experience; providing clients with a seamless end-to-end experience ensuring KPIs/SLAs are met in an efficient and cost‑effective manner.
