Tax Senior – SALT
As a Tax Senior, you will play a critical role in reviewing federal and state income tax returns for corporations and partnerships. Your responsibilities will include developing and supervising staff, preparing complex tax returns, and assisting in client management and practice development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and manage client engagements from inception to completion, including planning, execution, direction, and finalization of projects.
- Demonstrate strong expertise in managing engagement economics.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with state and local statutes, regulations, and legislation.
- Proactively address tax-related issues and provide recommendations for business and process enhancements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for engagement-related activities, coordinating with the Central team or local EY representatives.
- Conduct detailed reviews of federal and state income and franchise tax returns, amended returns, and supporting documentation.
- Assist in preparing responses for various tax audits.
- Analyze and recommend tax strategies by researching federal, state, and local taxation issues.
- Acquire a comprehensive understanding of client operations, processes, and business activities.
- Organize and lead user conference calls to effectively manage compliance.
- Drive the adoption of new technologies, tools, and quality initiatives.
- Adhere to practice protocols and EY compliance procedures.
- Lead, supervise, train, and mentor staff and interns throughout engagements.
- Exhibit a collaborative spirit and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
- Monitor performance, create growth opportunities, and guide team members in enhancing both technical and non-technical skills.
- Identify training needs and organize relevant training sessions.
- Graduate or postgraduate degree, preferably in Commerce. EA certification is a plus.
- A minimum of 3 to 7 years of professional experience in state compliance or amended state compliance.
- Exceptional project management, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a thorough understanding of tax applications (e.g., Corp Tax, One Source, Go Systems).
- Comprehensive exposure to federal and state income taxation, along with knowledge of relevant tax regulations.
- Technical and analytical expertise in tools such as Power BI and Alteryx is highly desirable.
- A solid understanding of US tax compliance and associated processes.
- Proficient computer skills in MS Excel, along with a basic understanding of other MS Office and web‑based applications.
