Position Summary:
SSO is seeking APS Assessors to support the Indiana Family & Social Services Administration. This role conducts investigations into allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of endangered adults. Fieldwork is required, including onsite visits and travel within the Southwest Region counties.
Clay, Sullivan, Vigo, Monroe, Owen, Daviess, Dubois, Greene, Knox, Martin, Pike, Gibson, Perry, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, Warrick, Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Scott, Crawford, Lawrence, Orange, Washington, Putnam.
Responsibilities:- Investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of endangered adults.
- Conduct interviews, review records, and collaborate with investigative partners.
- Initiate and facilitate referrals to community services and resources.
- Document case activity, including case notes, safety plans, case planning, and final findings.
- Serve as the Priority A responder (within 24 hours of receipt) on a rotating basis for cases involving immediate harm.
- Respond to assigned investigations within required timelines.
- Review and respond to quality assurance evaluations and feedback.
Qualifications:
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to interpret complex information.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple investigations simultaneously.
- Ability to work respectfully and professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong interviewing and active listening skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to policy and regulatory changes.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and basic computer applications.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff and management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong decision‑making ability with attention to detail and accuracy.
- 1+ year of experience in adult protective services, investigations, social services, human services, or law enforcement.
Work Schedule & Travel:
This is a full‑time position, Monday through Friday. Although the role is primarily virtual, local travel upto 50% is required for onsite investigations.
