Activity​/Recreational Therapist - Behavior Health

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Selecting, administering, and developing all therapeutic programs within the behavioral health services, for all patients within the guidelines of the physicians’ orders.
• Completing required activity assessments on all admissions within a specified timeframe.
• Participating in the treatment plan process and providing group therapy.
• Exemplifying the IRMC mission, vision, and values, acting in accordance with IRMC policies and procedures to ensure quality care is provided.
• Utilizing excellent interpersonal communication skill to effectively communicate with patients, family, and members of the organization.
• Using sound clinical judgment and decision-making skills to function in an independent environment.
• Able to convey directions and interact with patients based on age-specific needs.
• An active member of the treatment planning process, leading groups for various ages.
• Will be required to float to all units, including geropsych, adult, and adolescent.

Required:

• EDUCATION:
  
  Associate’s Degree or Bachelor Degree in Occupational Therapy or Recreational/Activity Therapy
• EXPERIENCE:
  
  Psychiatric experience
• LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: BLS certification required or obtained within 1 month of hire.
