About

the Position

We are hiring a Regular Full Time Radiation Therapist to support the Indiana Radiation Oncology Network office in Indiana, PA. The position offers a $15,000 sign‑on bonus and works a regular full‑time daylight schedule Monday through Friday.

Under the direction of a radiation oncologist, the therapist delivers radiation treatments, obtains localization images, assists with contrast agents, performs measurements for treatment calculations, collects and documents simulation data, and accurately inputs treatment‑related data into the verify‑and‑record system.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical Operations: Assists in the orientation and supervision of students during clinical rotations; evaluates student performance; uses effective communication techniques to explain treatment‑related procedures; observes patients for reactions and communicates with staff; reinforces patient education; maintains a safe treatment room; provides on‑call coverage as needed; assists at other UPMC locations if required.
  • Regulatory Affairs Management: Participates in regulatory compliance activities; maintains readiness for inspections; follows radiation safety standards; wears monitoring and s; remains HIPAA compliant; completes clinical competencies annually; communicates equipment issues.
  • Clinical Operations (continued): Performs treatment, simulation, fabrication of immobilization devices and shielding, radiosurgery, and brachytherapy procedures; performs measurements for treatment calculations; documents simulation data; ensures consistent quality of treatment delivery; takes portal images; explains procedures to patients; addresses concerns; assists with contrast agents; reports deviations to the Chief Therapist/Physicist.
  • Continuing Education Program Management: Participates in training programs required to maintain ARRT Certification; performs in accordance with system‑wide competencies.
  • Fiscal Responsibilities: Participates in charge capture activities; informs leadership of supply needs; maintains travel expenses per policy; uses UPMC resources effectively.
  • Quality Assurance / CQI Program Management: Prioritizes patient safety; performs and documents daily and weekly QA activity; reports findings outside normal range; participates in quality improvement programs such as Press Ganey and Chart Rounding.
  • Completion of a formal radiation therapy technology program in a JRCERT‑accredited institution.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

ARRT Registration in good standing or Board Eligibility within six months of hire; must maintain 24 CEU’s per biennium;
CPR Certification required within 30 days of beginning employment; CPR required based on AHA standards.

Required credentials:

  • ARRT Certificate
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
