! This is a 3 months contract role (with high possibility of extension) offering a great opportunity for experience to excel in a dynamic environment.
Traveler Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
Job Type3 Months Contract or 12 months + Possible Extension
Shift Schedule- 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Occasional Evening Coverage: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM (as needed)

Pay Highlights$1400 - 1700/week (Based on years of experience)
Key Responsibilities- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, testing, reporting, and documentation
- Analyze patient specimens using approved testing procedures and department SOPs
- Review, verify, and release laboratory test results
- Maintain records demonstrating proficiency testing is performed consistent with patient testing
- Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety regulations
- Perform quality control activities, instrument calibrations, and maintenance per laboratory policy
- Identify test system issues and take corrective action or notify senior technologist/supervisor as appropriate
- Document all corrective actions when test systems deviate from established performance criteria
- Report STAT and critical results according to departmental procedures
- Respond to inquiries from clients, customers, or laboratory personnel when applicable
- Maintain complete and accurate testing records
- Ensure reagents and test kits are properly labeled with received, opened, and expiration dates
- Participate in training, competency assessments, and review of new procedures
- Attend required department meetings and educational sessions
- Participate in safety training and maintain familiarity with safety manuals and equipment
- Support inspections by government or regulatory agencies when required
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory work area
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor
Education:
- BS in Medical Technology (preferred),
OR - BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology,
OR - Associate’s degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology,
OR - Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.1433
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in high-complexity testing
- Reliable personal transportation required (bus, Uber, or rideshare not acceptable)
- Eligibility for national certification MT/MLT (ASCP or AMT) required
- National and state licensure as required
Note: Only Travelers accepted - Candidates above 50 miles are eligible.
* Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credit.
