Overview

Contribute to the highest level of care by providing non-certified assistance, support, and protection of the residents in Assisted Living and Memory Care at our Greencroft Middlebury Campus. Provide direct care and assistance to the person with dementia that acknowledges the individual’s remaining strengths and needs.

Schedule:
Saturdays and Sundays ONLY 6A - 2P

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care and assistance to residents in Assisted Living and Memory Care, acknowledging the individual’s remaining strengths and needs.
  • Answer telephone and assist visitors in a positive and friendly manner.
  • Conduct tasks safely within the scope of your position and in compliance with Greencroft Middlebury policies.
  • Provide effective, courteous, and respectful service to all residents, co-workers, and guests.
  • Read notes in attendant’s notebook regarding events that have occurred on all shifts.
  • Performs other related essential duties as required.
  • Performs health and safety checks on the residents and other related essential duties as required.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and trainings.
  • Assist personnel and residents in establishing a home-like atmosphere.
  • Assist with maintenance and proper storage of equipment and supplies.
  • Fill out menus and take to kitchen for dietary to fill trays.
  • Help to prepare and serve meals during mealtimes. Prepare and serve meals to residents in dining area or in their room, gathering trays and cleaning up.
  • Assist residents in getting up from or ready for bed as needed.
  • Launder items when appropriate.
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks such as emptying trash, wiping down surfaces, vacuum and spot clean carpet, sweeping and mopping, tidying up, making beds and changing linens as needed and cleaning bathrooms.
  • Monitor the emergency call system for emergency calls and respond appropriately.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with older adults.
  • Personal or professional experience as a caregiver for someone with a dementia diagnosis (Strongly Preferred).
Skills and Requirements
  • A big smile, eagerness to learn, respect, compassion, and empathy for all.
  • Work well independently, with excellent work ethic.
  • Respond appropriately in emergencies.
  • Attend in-service training workshops, and/or seminars per year.
  • Is able to read, write and speak English.
  • Values honesty and dependability.
