Job Summary
Provides direct patient care to adult through geriatric patient populations. Addresses the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care related to the cardiac diagnostic and interventional catheterization / peripheral angio environment. Communicates with the physician continuously and as needed about patient condition. Assists with maintenance of equipment and inventory. Assesses procedure room for equipment function and readiness. Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs the Cardiac Cath Lab teams are met.
Monitors, positions, and assists patient during procedure. Participates in performance improvement activities.
Job Specification
* Minimum Education Required
* Must be a graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing and possess a current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania.
* Minimum Experience Required
* Must possess a minimum of two - three years of diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization lab experience preferred. Also consider Emergency Department experience and/or Intensive Care/Critical Care in a Tertiary facility
* Licensure/Certification
Required:
* Possess a current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania
* Must possess current BLS required or must obtained within one month of hire.
* ACLS certification and dysrhythmia required (or must obtain within 6 months).
* NIHSS certification (obtain within 6 months).
* Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) preferred.
Skills
* Must be proficient in interpreting EKG and hemodynamic pressure tracings, pacemakers, and related equipment, ability to use radiographic equipment and handle patients who present in a variety of conditions.
* Experience in electric counter shock techniques.
* Ability to function as a team member.
* Ability to demonstrate the principles of surgical asepsis.
* Must possess the necessary acuities to perform the essential functions of this position.
