University Libraries (.: 536986) is looking for an Assistant Data Services and Information Research Librarian to provide quality services for Technology Support Services and/or other functional areas.
The RoleThis appointee will work under the general direction of the Head of Technology Support Services. Working within a growing digital development team, he/she will participate in developing the library’s digital services. The appointee will be responsible for:
- Identifying and deploying appropriate tools and technologies to deliver digital projects and workflow automation (such as AI, data visualization, text mining and encoding, data analysis, programming and scripting languages, etc.).
- Collecting, analyzing, building visualizations and dashboards on data platforms, and generating reports based on quantitative and qualitative data gathered from various sources (including library systems, vendor statistics, observations, surveys, web analytics, etc.).
- Coordinating, maintaining, and analyzing circulation, reference, and other statistics.
- Analyzing data to identify trends and patterns, and to answer specific questions.
- Assisting in policy formulation for effective data management and analysis for business assessment.
- Staying abreast of and evaluating current and emerging digital tools and methodologies that support digital libraries.
- Performing any other duties as assigned.
- Hands-on experience with methods and technologies to investigate research questions, including but not limited to AI, data visualization, statistical analysis, programming and scripting languages, and other computational methods.
- Knowledge and experience with a broad variety of emerging digital scholarship and data methods and technologies, including but not limited to digitization, data visualization, and metadata schemas.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese across scholarly and technology domains.
- Strong project management skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and innovatively with library colleagues, the University community at large, and external communities.
The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
