• Perform SQL performance analysis and tuning
  , including query optimization, EXPLAIN analysis, access path evaluation, join strategy assessment, optimizer hints (OPTHINTs), and data normalization best practices.
• Monitor and optimize application performance using tools such as BMC Main View for DB2
  , BMC Apptune
  , CA Detector
  , or equivalent IBM performance monitoring solutions.
• Develop and maintain automation and operational utilities using REXX programming
  .
• Conduct performance and capacity management activities by tuning DB2 and system resources, leveraging monitoring, reporting, and diagnostic tools.
• Provide application development support
  , including SQL coding guidance, performance recommendations, and DB2 issue resolution.
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call support rotation (Level 1/Level
  2) covering weekdays, weekends, and critical production incidents.
• Support DB2 for z/OS Distributed Data Facility (DDF) environments, including distributed workload management, stored procedure performance tuning, and DDF-related subsystem parameter optimization.
• Analyze and resolve DB2 locking and concurrency issues
  , including lock escalations, lock contention, deadlocks, and timeout situations across page, row, table, tablespace, and system levels.
• Manage and troubleshoot DB2 logging environments
  , including active and archive logs; utilize log analysis and scanning tools to investigate performance and recovery issues.
• Administer and optimise DB2 utilities
  , including REORG, RUNSTATS, COPY, LOAD, RECOVER, REBUILD INDEX, and related maintenance processes.

• 8–15 years of experience as an IBM DB2 for z/OS Database Administrator
  , with strong expertise in database administration, performance tuning, and application support.
• In-depth knowledge of DB2 database objects and structures, including:
  • Databases
  • Storage Groups
  • Table spaces
