The role is responsible for maintaining and evolving a multi-platform data replication architecture spanning IMS (z/OS), IBM CDC Replication, SQL Server replication, and cloud targets.
The environment has already undergone significant modernization and is currently stable and reliable. The expectation is that the incoming resource will assume ownership of an established system, leveraging existing documentation and operating with a high degree of independence.
This position is a backfill for a specialized resource supporting a critical client environment following the planned retirement of a key individual contributor.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and support end-to-end data replication pipelines across:
- Deploy database and application changes into Production environments
- Administer and support:
- SQL Server replication
- IBM Info Sphere CDC (IDR) replication processes
- Analyze and implement schema and structural changes across systems
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and synchronization across all environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve replication failures and performance issues
- Build and maintain SQL Server database links across environments
- Assume full responsibility for an existing, production-critical environment
- Operate with minimal oversight
, using existing documentation and knowledge transfer inputs - Maintain and enhance process documentation and runbooks for repeatable operations
The most complex responsibility involves managing schema-level changes originating in IMS systems
, which must propagate through multiple layers:
- IMS table/structure changes
- SQL Server replication changes
These changes require coordinated updates across all environments and replication processes
, with high risk of data inconsistency if not properly executed.
- SQL Server (strong experience, including replication)
- Oracle database knowledge
- IMS (z/OS) – functional familiarity
- IBM Info Sphere CDC (IDR) Replication
- SQL Server Replication (transactional/merge/snapshot)
