Qualifications- Graduation from an accredited high school or general equivalency diploma. Associate’s degree or higher preferred. PC experience required, or any equivalent combination of technical skills and experience.

To
- Install and maintain PCs, monitors, and network communications
- Multi-task and to work independently with little to no supervision
- Assist with the evaluation of software, hardware, printers, etc. and make technology recommendations
- Provide backup to IS Director and Deputy’s 24 hours/day, 7 days/week support
- Maintain professional relationships with all City employees
- Communicate effectively in written and oral form
- Proficient in the English language
- Occasionally lifts, carries, and moves materials weighing up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time
- Moves about office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Operates, activates, and inspects delicate machinery
- Assists in training employees in the use of hardware and software.
- Performs physical installation of computer hardware, software, monitors, network configuration, peripherals, etc.
- Helps with the evaluation of citywide requests for hardware, software, etc.
- Configures hardware and runs diagnostics.
- Responsible for troubleshooting hardware/software.
- Identifies problems affecting workstation performance, basic client networking, desktop computers, as well as their associated peripherals.
- Tests, assesses, recommends and/or supports hardware configurations and provides network connectivity.
- Responsible for evaluating network, assisting in the development of solutions and recommending implementation of necessary changes.
- Provides as needed, backup to the Director and Deputy’s technical support, 24/7, to all City users.
- Assists Director and Deputy in the assessment of the City’s information technology systems to provide a projection of future needs.
- Maintains and protects the integrity of the entire network, including maintaining internet security measures and best practices for PCs and/or the network.
- Makes sure mission critical applications receive special attention.
- Provides technical guidance and training on City’s communication systems including Public Safety cellular voice/data and Internet messaging systems.
- Performs basic moves, adds and changes to City’s 3CX administrative phone system.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
