Position Summary & DescriptionThis is a non-represented management position.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for up to date knowledge of the legal and policy standards with respect to civil rights and manages reports and processes pursuant to civil rights laws and policies, including Title IX of the Education Amendments of the 1972 Civil Rights Act; the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization of 2012;
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; the Americans with Disabilities Act and Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; and other protected class discrimination complaints by employees and students.
This role directly oversees institutional compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of the 1972 Civil Rights Act; the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization of 2012;
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; the Americans with Disabilities Act and Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973;
Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education System-wide and University policies prohibiting discrimination, harassment, and retaliation and all other Office of Civil Rights directives.
In close coordination with IUP Public Safety, the position ensures full adherence to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and related acts, including the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization of 2022.
Collaborating across campus partnerships, the Coordinator drives educational programming and awareness campaigns regarding sexual violence, dating and domestic violence, discrimination, and other related areas. These joint initiatives also extend to providing targeted programming focused on accessibility and student success strategies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Maintain Regulatory Expertise:
Stay current on all changing legal and policy standards regarding civil rights and institutional compliance. - Manage Civil Rights Processes:
Oversee reports, investigations, and formal resolution processes for complaints regarding protected-class discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. - Ensure Federal & State Compliance:
Monitor institutional adherence to major mandates, including Title IX, VAWA, Title VI, the ADA, Sections 503/504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Office of Civil Rights directives. - Enforce System & University Policies:
Align campus practices with Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) system-wide regulations and specific University anti-discrimination policies. - Collaborate on Campus Safety:
Partner directly with IUP Public Safety to ensure full compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act and related campus security disclosures. - Deliver Prevention Programming:
Work alongside campus partners to develop and implement educational campaigns addressing sexual violence, domestic/dating violence, and discrimination. - Promote Campus Accessibility:
Coordinate joint initiatives with campus stakeholders to provide educational resources focused on accessibility and student success strategies.
