Job DescriptionPrimary Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Maintain and repair the control and instrumentation systems, including level transmitters, switches, probes, temperature transmitters and associated wiring, hazard monitoring systems, 24 V DC and 4/20 mA analog instrumentation circuits.
- Troubleshoot and repair all electrical systems and components in the facility.
- Repair electrical systems including variable speed drives, motors and motor control equipment, PLC and related equipment, power distribution equipment and turbines.
- Perform pneumatic troubleshooting, including calculating ranges and set points for switches, transmitters, indicators, recorder and controllers.
- Install conduit, wiring, panels, controls and other electrical components for machines and equipment.
- Install and maintain light fixtures and related equipment.
- Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
- Maintain and repair operating equipment, including removal, installation, rebuilding, lubrication and cleaning of all equipment associated with the production process.
- Maintain the materials and parts used for repairs and fabrication in the Maintenance Shop.
- Maintain the equipment used for repairs and fabrication in the Maintenance Shop.
- Analyze mechanical and operational problems on equipment, plan for and take corrective action.
- Work with plant operations to accomplish all tasks in a timely and safe manner.
- Notify Maintenance Supervisors of any production, maintenance or safety problems.
- Know, observe and enforce all standard operating procedures, safety procedures, rules, environmental practices and GMP guidelines.
- Make the necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all related equipment and attend training classes when available.
- Support plant management efforts for improving production efficiencies with electrical and mechanical resources.
- Apply root cause analysis theory and corrective action steps for continuous improvement.
- Complete all required safety training and comply with all safety policies.
- Follow all department procedural policies and participate in a team concept approach.
- Notify supervisor and production management of product quality issues and shut down equipment if product quality is out of specification.
- Perform maintenance tasks to ensure compliance with quality and GMP requirements; always adhere to all equipment safety, quality, and GMP requirements.
- Complete work orders on all work performed, entering actual time, parts or material used onto each work order in respective systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks for equipment and facility in accordance with manufacturer’s and/or engineering guidelines.
- High school diploma/GED required
- Technical degree preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
- Two to three (2‑3) years of experience in electrical work, preventive maintenance, and/or mechanical work in an industrial processing facility or fleet maintenance.
- Degree/Certification in a related industrial field can count 1‑3 years toward experience qualification.
