What you'll do and what you'll bring:
Position Function:

Under supervision, perform duties related to the fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of metal fixtures, equipment and devices of University facilities, complying with appropriate regulations and codes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Perform duties related to the design, fabrication, and layout of various metals and other materials related to facilities and equipment. Requires the physical ability to stoop, bend, crouch, crawl, kneel, stand, grasp, work with hands and arms extended, climb, balance, and exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently, and 20 pounds of force constantly.

Task requires the visual ability to read small print, distinguish color, and perceive depth. Task requires the ability to operate various hand and power tools, welding machines, cutting torches, and cleaning equipment. Employee is exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme heat and cold, noise, dust, heights, confined spaces, and may be required to wear a filter mask, respirator, and various protective clothing and/or equipment.

Task requires the mental ability to receive, comprehend, follow, and provide oral instructions and information and to read, comprehend, follow, and provide written instructions and information.

Weld, solder, braze, silfos, assemble, and join plumbing related materials and fixtures using various welding techniques. Requires the physical ability to stoop, bend, crouch, crawl, kneel, stand, grasp, work with hands and arms extended, climb, balance, and exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly.

Employee is exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme heat and cold, noise, dust, heights, confined spaces, and may be required to wear a filter mask, respirator, and various protective clothing and/or equipment. Task requires the mental ability to receive, comprehend, follow, and provide oral instructions and information and to read, comprehend, follow, and provide written instructions and information.

Repair and perform preventative maintenance on loading dock equipment, portable power tools, custodial equipment, furniture, small appliances, and hydraulic equipment. Requires the physical ability to stoop, bend, crouch, crawl, kneel, stand, grasp, work with hands and arms extended, climb, balance, and exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently, and 20 pounds of force constantly.
