The Opportunity

If you're the machinist everyone turns to when a setup needs troubleshooting, a program needs adjusted, or an operator has a question, this could be the next step in your career.

We're looking for a Lead CNC Machinist who enjoys staying hands‑on while helping others succeed. This isn't a role where you'll spend your day behind a desk—it's an opportunity to lead from the shop floor by supporting your team, solving machining challenges, and keeping production moving.

You'll work alongside CNC operators and setup machinists, helping with machine setups, troubleshooting, quality, training, and continuous improvement while serving as the go-to technical resource for the department.

This is an opportunity to join a well-established precision manufacturer that values teamwork, quality, and promoting skilled machinists into leadership positions.

What You'll Be Doing Lead the CNC Team
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and support for CNC operators and setup machinists
  • Answer technical questions and help resolve machining issues
  • Train and mentor new and existing employees
  • Promote safe work practices and quality standards
  • Help prioritize work to keep production on schedule
CNC Setup & Troubleshooting
  • Perform machine setups as needed
  • Edit existing CNC programs and offsets
  • Troubleshoot tooling, setup, and machining issues
  • Verify first-piece quality before production begins
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the department
Quality & Production
  • Read and interpret blueprints and part drawings
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment
  • Work closely with Quality and Engineering to resolve production concerns
  • Monitor production to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Assist operators in solving day-to-day machining challenges
What We're Looking For Required
  • 5+ years of CNC machining and setup experience
  • Previous experience serving as a lead, trainer, group leader, or go-to machinist
  • Ability to perform complete machine setups
  • Experience editing CNC programs and offsets
  • Strong blueprint reading and inspection skills
  • Experience using micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Preferred
  • Mill and lathe experience
  • Fanuc control experience
  • Experience working with multiple CNC platforms
  • Continuous improvement or Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Previous experience mentoring or training machinists
Why You'll Want to Work Here
  • Opportunity to lead while remaining hands‑on
  • Join a stable, well-established manufacturer
  • High level of autonomy and responsibility
  • Collaborative environment with Quality and Engineering
  • Opportunity to mentor and develop the next generation of machinists
  • Variety of machining challenges—not repetitive production only
  • Company that values quality craftsmanship and continuous improvement
Compensation

Effective Earnings: $27.00–$31.00/hour

  • Base Pay: $24.00–$28.00/hour
  • +$3.00/hour 2nd Shift Premium
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid holidays
  • Paid time off
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Employee assistance program
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
The Ideal Candidate

You're the person your coworkers already rely on.

When there's a difficult setup, a quality concern, or a machining problem, you're usually one of the first people they ask for help. You enjoy sharing your knowledge, coaching others, and finding better ways to do things while continuing to stay involved in the machining process yourself.

If you're ready to step into a leadership role without giving up the hands‑on work you enjoy, we'd like to talk with you.

The Bottom Line

This is more than a Lead Machinist position—it's an opportunity to help shape the success of an experienced CNC team while continuing to do the work you enjoy.

If you're an experienced setup machinist with strong technical skills, leadership ability, and a passion for mentoring others, this is an excellent opportunity to advance your career with a respected precision manufacturer in Ossian.
